Corner Canyon beat Lehi 34-7 on senior night Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the Chargers' final regular-season home game in Draper.
The Chargers never trailed.
The ground game did most of the damage. Running back Levi Hines scored two rushing touchdowns, and senior Jackson Carruth added one of his own, according to the team's post on X. Kelen Gold also found the end zone, while kicker Carson Burnett connected on two field goals to round out the scoring.
Lehi managed a single touchdown in the loss. The final score told the story of a lopsided night for the Pioneers, who fell to Draper trailing by four touchdowns and a pair of field goals.
The win pushes Corner Canyon to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in 6A Region 3, second behind Skyridge, according to MaxPreps. The Chargers have won three straight since a Sept. 25 loss to Skyridge and have outscored opponents 131-24 during the streak.
Corner Canyon entered the week ranked No. 3 in the KSL Sports Rewind Top 25 and No. 5 in the Sports Illustrated Mountain West Top 25. Those rankings were published before the Lehi result.
Head coach Casey Sutera has leaned on the run game all season. After the Chargers' Sept. 18 win over Lone Peak, Sutera told the Deseret News that the offensive line had recently hit its stride and praised Carruth for running "so hard" and getting "those difficult yards." That formula carried into Wednesday's blowout, with Hines and Carruth combining for three rushing scores.
The game also marked senior night for the program, which won last season's 6A state championship.
Lehi entered the matchup at 5-4 overall and 1-2 in region play after a 14-7 loss to Lone Peak the week before, according to KSL Sports.
Attention now turns to the postseason. The UHSAA will reveal 6A playoff brackets Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. on KSLsports.com, with final rankings available at UHSAA.org at 11 a.m.
