Draper's Planning Commission cleared three land-use requests at its Oct. 22 meeting, approving two internal accessory dwelling unit deviations and a home occupation permit for a woodworking business.
Both ADU deviations passed 5–0. The commission granted Tallin and Brenda Johnson permission to add an internal ADU at their 0.16-acre property at 14094 S. Candy Pull Drive. Cabot and Tiffani Curtis received the same approval for their 0.86-acre lot at 14811 S. Maple Park Court, according to meeting records posted by OpenUtah. Official minutes have not yet been posted.
Both properties sit in areas where internal ADUs, known as I-ADUs, are normally restricted because of narrow street widths. The commission evaluated whether each property could provide enough off-street parking to prevent street congestion.
Michael Crist, representing Master Wood Crafters, received a 4–0 conditional use permit to run a small-scale woodworking business from his home at 12646 S. 700 East. The city's public hearing notice described the operation as a home-based cottage business that creates wood products for online sale. All sales would be conducted online and shipped off-site, with no customer traffic at the residence.
The Master Wood Crafters vote drew one fewer commissioner than the ADU items. The reason for the difference has not been made public.
Two other public hearing items were continued to a date uncertain: a conditional use permit request for United Curbing at 12541 S. Minuteman Drive and a development agreement request from Ivory Homes for 1.67 acres at 12430 S. 700 East, according to the meeting agenda.
The commission also recommended its proposed 2027 meeting schedule to the Draper City Council. Staff planner Lori Stout's memo noted three holiday-related date shifts for 2027: the Nov. 11 meeting moves to Nov. 4 for Veterans Day, the Nov. 25 meeting moves to Nov. 18 for Thanksgiving, and the Dec. 23 meeting moves to Dec. 16 for Christmas.
Planning Commission meetings are held at Draper City Hall, 1020 E. Pioneer Road, on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.
