Altara Elementary's PTA votes on its 2026–27 budget at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Draper school.

New PTA President Caroline Carlson leads a board announced in May that includes President-Elect Taelor Bogg, Secretary Jackie Tanner and Treasurer Kara Malquist. The school's Aug. 31 newsletter did not include dollar figures for the proposed budget.

The newsletter also announced that Altara's September emergency drill will be a lockdown. No specific date was given. Canyons District produced a video walking families through what a lockdown looks like inside a school building and encouraged parents to watch it with their children beforehand.

Principal Julie Fielding and Assistant Principal Sara Caldwell lead the kindergarten-through-fifth-grade school, which enrolls 560 students. At the Canyons District board meeting on Aug. 18, Fielding called the PTA "strong and invested."

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Sept. 21 and Sept. 23.
