A home woodworking business and a construction sales operation are seeking permits to open in Draper, with public hearings set for the Oct. 22 Planning Commission meeting.

The commission will consider conditional use permits for Master Wood Crafters, a cottage woodworking business, and United Curbing, a construction sales and service company. Both hearings begin at 6:30 p.m. at Draper City Hall, 1020 E. Pioneer Road.

Wood products business at 700 East

A homeowner near 12646 S. 700 East wants permission to run a cottage business making wood products for online sale under the name Master Wood Crafters, according to a public hearing notice posted by Draper City.

The city posted the notice Thursday, Oct. 8. No staff report or detailed application has been published yet, so specifics about the scale of the operation and the types of wood products are not publicly available.

Under Draper City code, home-occupation permits require that the business owner live in the dwelling, that no more than 25% of the home be used for the business, that no customers visit the property and that no materials be stored outside. The application fee for a home-occupation conditional use permit is $60, according to the city's fee schedule.

Maryann DeHaven, a Draper City staff member, is the contact for this item and can be reached at (801) 576-6391.

Construction business on Minuteman Drive

United Curbing wants to operate a construction sales and service business near 12541 S. Minuteman Dr., according to a separate city notice also posted Thursday, Oct. 8.

That permit falls under the city's general conditional use category. No staff report has been released for this item either.
