Families at American Preparatory Academy's Draper campuses could see changes to school fees and student conduct rules after the charter school's governing board took up both items Aug. 27.

Utah Charter Academies (UCA), the board that oversees APA, met at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Draper campus on Pony Express Road. The meeting agenda listed motions on several items affecting APA's three Draper campuses, which together serve more than 1,600 elementary students and a grades 7-12 campus.

Board member Kate York presented fiscal year 2027 (FY27) fee schedule amendments for a second review and requested vote. The board first reviewed the fee schedule at its June 30 meeting, when no motion was required. The specific dollar amounts in the amended schedule were not included in the agenda document.

York also presented proposed changes to the Student Code of Conduct and a restructured Attendance Policy. Details of what changed in either policy were not listed in the agenda.

Other action items requiring motions included a Drug-Free Workplace Policy amendment and FY27 Teacher and Student Success Act (TSSA) plans presented by Lisa Brunson. The TSSA program distributes state funding to schools based on board-approved improvement plans. Utah's deadline for local boards to approve those plans is June 30 each year, according to the Utah State Board of Education. The board's Aug. 27 vote on FY27 plans came nearly two months after that deadline.

David Sharette presented an update to UCA's charter agreement with the Utah State Charter School Board. The agenda did not list a motion for that item. Casey Crellin presented an update to the board's bank account authorized signers.

The consent agenda included approval of prior meeting minutes and a Parent Advisory Committee policy amendment.

The board also scheduled a closed session under state law to discuss an individual's character or professional competence.
