Willow Springs Elementary School in Draper will have a new principal when doors open Monday, August 17: Aimee Wagner, who led Silver Mesa Elementary in Sandy for the past year, takes over the 562-student school two weeks before the first day of class.

The Canyons School District announced the appointment on Facebook on Tuesday, May 5, as part of a broader round of administrative moves for the coming school year. Willow Springs posted its own welcome announcement on Saturday, August 1, calling Wagner the school's new principal and expressing excitement about what she will accomplish as a Wildcat.

Wagner replaces Anne Hansen, who is transitioning to principal at Crescent Elementary. Justin Jeffrey, previously principal at Park Lane Elementary, will fill Wagner's former seat at Silver Mesa.

Silver Mesa, a K-5 school with 551 students, is nearly identical in size to Willow Springs. During Wagner's tenure there, Silver Mesa teacher Lisa Hayes was named the 2026 Canyons District Teacher of the Year. At the April 21 ceremony at Union Middle School, Wagner praised Hayes's approach: "She has a passion for student dignity and student ability. She is relentless in her support."
