Draper's Planning Commission approved three development items at its Thursday, Aug. 27 meeting. A new retail building for Wise Flooring on Ikea Way, a home-based barbecue pickup permit on Richins Road and a lot line adjustment in Camden Park all passed.

The commission also marked the departure of Commissioner Lisa Fowler, who stepped down after eight years of service. The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Draper City Hall, 1020 E. Pioneer Road.

Wise Flooring building approved with parking deviation

The commission approved a site plan for a retail building at 41 W. Ikea Way on about 1.08 acres. Mitch Cordner, representing Savio Rentals, submitted the application. The relationship between Savio Rentals and Wise Flooring was not detailed in city records.

Commissioners also granted a parking deviation, allowing fewer stalls than the city's special district rules normally require. Individual commissioner votes were not available in the meeting summary reviewed for this article.

BBQ pickup operation approved on Richins Road

Russell Stephenson won a conditional use permit to run Rusty's Pitmasters Barbecue from his about 0.64-acre property at 1645 E. Richins Road. The business will operate as a small-scale, appointment-only pickup service producing barbecued foods, according to the city's public hearing notice.

No walk-in traffic. Customers schedule a pickup time and collect their order from the home.

The city posted a public hearing notice for the permit on Aug. 13 on the Draper City website and at City Hall.

Camden Park lot lines adjusted

Philip and Shelli Rosbach and the Weaver Family Trust received approval for an amended plat covering about 0.62 acres at 11446 S. Camden Road and 11464 S. Camden Road. The adjustment refines the lot boundaries between the two properties.

Fowler exits after eight years

The meeting doubled as a farewell for Commissioner Lisa Fowler, who served on the Draper Planning Commission for eight years. No replacement has been publicly announced.

Commissioners and staff also held a preliminary discussion about how the city handles accessory uses on properties made up of multiple parcels. The commission plans to revisit that topic at a future meeting.
