Draper School ranked No. 25 among Utah's elementary schools in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings, scoring 95.98 out of 100.
The Canyons School District school was one of 22 CSD elementary schools that landed in the state's top 40% of nearly 600 ranked schools, according to an Oct. 27 announcement on the Crescent Elementary website. Six CSD middle schools also made the cut. For Draper-area families, the results offer a snapshot of how neighborhood schools stack up statewide.
At Draper School, 70% of students scored proficient or above in math and 64% in reading, according to U.S. News. The school serves 680 students in grades K-5.
Crescent Elementary also recognized
Crescent Elementary, another CSD school, earned a spot in the top 40% as well, the Oct. 27 announcement said. The school's specific statewide rank was not listed.
The top-ranked CSD elementary school was Sunrise School, which earned a perfect 100 out of 100 and the No. 1 spot statewide, according to U.S. News.
How the rankings work
U.S. News bases its K-8 rankings on state test scores. Half of each school's score reflects the share of students who scored proficient or above in math and reading. The other half weights those results by the school's socioeconomic demographics.
District leadership responds
Superintendent McKay Robinson said in the announcement that recognition across all grade levels reflects what the district builds for students from kindergarten through graduation. He thanked the district's board, educators, leaders, parents and students.
Four CSD high schools also received "Best in Utah" status from U.S. News, the announcement said.
Across all grades, Canyons School District enrolls 32,688 students in 50 schools, according to U.S. News.
