Draper families looking for a structured summer camp before school starts have a nearby choice: Sandy Recreation Center's Kids Camp begins Monday, Aug. 3, and runs through Friday, Aug. 7, at Bicentennial Park, 530 E. 8680 South in Sandy.

The weeklong morning camp is open to children in grades K–5. Sessions run 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day and include team challenges, games, crafts, and two field trips. Specific field trip destinations have not been announced.

Cost is $150.

Registration is available online through ActivityReg or by calling Sandy Recreation Center at 801-568-4600. The Aug. 3 session is one of the final weeks in an eight-session summer lineup, according to the camp's listing on the Draper Journal events calendar.

While Bicentennial Park sits just across the city line in Sandy, the camp is marketed to south Salt Lake County families, including those in Draper, and appears on local community calendars. Sandy Recreation Center described the program as featuring "thrilling games, epic team challenges, crafty creations, and not just one but TWO awesome field trips every week" in its promotional listing published Thursday, July 30.

A companion program, the Energy & Confidence Camp for ages 6–12, also meets at Bicentennial Park Pavilion on Tuesdays and Fridays through Friday, Aug. 7, at $20 per week. That camp is organized by Sandy City Parks & Recreation.
