Corner Canyon's girls soccer program enters the 2026 season with statewide respect, earning multiple coaches' votes in the Deseret News Class 6A preseason poll released Monday, July 27.
The Chargers landed in the "others receiving multiple votes" tier alongside Mountain Ridge and Lehi, just outside the top five. It marks the second consecutive year Corner Canyon has earned that distinction after also receiving multiple votes in the 2025 preseason poll.
Head coach Kelsey Haag's squad upset No. 7 Weber 1-0 in the 6A second round on Oct. 14, 2025. Channing Wuest scored the decisive goal with 15 minutes remaining, and goalkeeper Olivia Edwards posted the shutout to push the Chargers' record to 9-7. Haag singled out Sienna Midgley as a standout performer in that win.
The 6A landscape
Lone Peak claimed the No. 1 preseason ranking after going 18-2 in 2025, but the Knights face questions after losing their top two goal scorers. The Deseret News noted Lone Peak's small senior class "comes with some question marks."
Syracuse, which denied Lone Peak a 3-peat by winning the 2025 state title, sits at No. 2 (19-3). Davis (11-8), Farmington (12-7), and American Fork (11-6) round out the top five.
The poll is compiled by the Deseret News, which invites every girls soccer coach in the state to rank the top five teams in their classification. Coaches cannot vote for their own team.
Season ahead
The 2026 girls soccer season is set to begin the week of Monday, Aug. 3. Corner Canyon returns playoff experience and consecutive years of poll recognition heading into the opener.
