Juan Diego Catholic heads to Jordan on Friday, Sept. 11, carrying a nine-game losing streak and an 0-4 record that stretches into the 2025 season.

First-year head coach Trevor McFalls is a Juan Diego alum who served as offensive coordinator at Snow College. He inherited a program that went 2-9 in 2025 and allowed 45.36 points per game, dead last among 4A defenses.

Parry's Power Guide, published Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Deseret News, rates Jordan a 5.4-point favorite. The Beetdiggers hold a 26.7 power rating to Juan Diego's 21.3.

Jordan isn't exactly rolling, either. Third-year head coach Marc Albertson is 5-15 since taking over. The Beetdiggers went 2-7 in 2025, averaging 17.67 points per game on offense and allowing 33 per game on defense.

Still, Jordan returns seven defensive starters. Senior inside linebacker Sterling Ostler, senior defensive end Thomas Howard, junior defensive end Eli Kennar, junior strong safety Titan Schaugaard and junior cornerbacks Trae Ewing and Sam Dean all return. That experienced unit will test a Juan Diego offense built around two playmakers.

Junior quarterback Jacoby Ahlstrom threw for 1,373 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2025. Junior running back Sione "One" Vea rushed for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore and added 28 tackles on defense.

Senior linebacker Kysen Dowland, who led Juan Diego with 75 tackles in 2025, anchors the defensive side.

McFalls set expectations before the season began. In the Deseret News preseason preview published Aug. 1, he said the team was "full of youth and new faces that are eager to turn things around."

Five weeks in, the turnaround hasn't arrived. Juan Diego was picked fifth and Jordan sixth in the preseason Region 10 coaches poll. Both programs finished near the bottom of the standings in 2025.

Albertson struck a similar tone before the season, telling the Deseret News in August that Jordan was "poised to see a more complete and consistent program top to bottom."

Friday's game at Jordan is a Region 10 contest between two teams searching for traction. Kickoff time has not been announced.
