Three former Corner Canyon Chargers hold spots on NFL rosters heading into the 2026 season, part of a growing wave that puts 92 Utah-tied players in professional football camps this summer.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart is with the New York Giants, offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson lines up for the Las Vegas Raiders, and quarterback Zach Wilson is on the New Orleans Saints' roster, according to a Deseret News tally published Friday, July 25. The count is up from 82 Utah-tied players a year ago and 87 in 2024.

Corner Canyon's three NFL alumni tie the Chargers with American Fork, Bingham, and Brighton for third-most among Utah high schools. Orem leads with six, followed by Herriman and Timpview with four each.

Dart, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, transferred to Corner Canyon from Roy High for his senior year. Wilson was the No. 2 overall pick in 2021 after starring at BYU. Powers-Johnson earned unanimous All-American honors as a center at Oregon in 2023.

"This is the coolest thing I've had in my career," Powers-Johnson said at Corner Canyon's jersey retirement ceremony on March 30, when the school retired all three players' numbers before roughly 300 fans. "From coach Kjar to everybody in between here at Corner Canyon, it's the sole reason why I'm in the NFL and why I'm having a great career."

The ceremony also honored former head coach Eric Kjar, who compiled a 112-10 record and six state championships in nine seasons before leaving in December 2025 to become Weber State's head football coach.

Of the 92 Utah-tied NFL players, 46 played high school football in the state, up six from 2025. The University of Utah leads all colleges with 36 players on rosters, followed by BYU with 23 and Utah State with 10. Twenty-six rookies with Utah ties entered the league this cycle, including two first-round picks from the University of Utah.

Back in Draper, the pipeline's next chapter is already forming. Corner Canyon sits atop the Class 6A preseason coaches poll under new head coach Casey Sutera, who replaced Kjar after serving as the program's defensive coordinator and then leading Brighton to a 35-14 record. The Chargers are pursuing a fourth consecutive state title.

Sutera told the Deseret News on July 20 that the program expects to maintain the standard Kjar built, starting with its daily preparation. The Chargers return three offensive starters and five defensive starters.

The real test for the 92-player count comes in late August, when NFL teams trim to 53-man rosters. Last year, 47 Utah-tied players survived final cutdowns. Corner Canyon's high school season opens Thursday, August 13.
