Corner Canyon's three-year reign as 6A boys golf state champion ended Tuesday, Oct. 13, at TalonsCove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, where the Chargers finished tied for eighth as Lehi claimed its first title.

The Chargers posted rounds of 294 and 294 for a 588 total, 26 strokes behind champion Lehi. Corner Canyon trailed by 18 strokes after Monday's opening round and could not close the gap.

Drew Wilson provided the bright spot for coach Derek Fox's squad.

Wilson, a Corner Canyon junior, shot rounds of 69 and 68 to finish at 7-under 137, tying for third individually with Lehi sophomore Jordan Ofahengaue. Only Lone Peak's Blake Brown (12-under 132) and Lehi's Crue Harward (9-under 135) finished ahead of him.

Lehi's roster of three sophomores and three juniors compiled a 14-under 562 to win by seven shots over Skyridge, according to results first reported by the Deseret News. Lone Peak placed third at 5-under 571.

Brown, a Lone Peak junior, repeated as individual medalist with a 12-under 132 over two rounds. Harward, a Lehi sophomore, held a three-shot lead after the Oct. 12 first round but finished second at 9-under 135.

Lehi coach Johnny Revill credited the competition from Corner Canyon and Lone Peak for pushing his young program. "It makes us that much better (after) competing against those guys, coach (Derek) Fox and coach (Derek) Farr," Revill said of the Corner Canyon and Lone Peak coaches.

The result closes a chapter for Corner Canyon, which had won three consecutive 6A titles entering the tournament. Wilson is a junior and returns next season.
