A home-based hair salon wants to open at 249 E 13560 S in Draper, and neighbors will get their say at a Planning Commission public hearing on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 6:30 p.m.

Lamb Hair Salon filed for a conditional use permit to operate out of the residential property, according to a public notice posted by Draper City on Thursday, July 30. The notice, attested by City Recorder Nicole Smedley, does not name the applicant beyond the business name or specify proposed hours and customer limits.

That makes four home occupation permits to reach the Planning Commission this year.

Kayleen England won approval in January for an esthetics salon at 13058 S. 1300 East, followed by CleanCrumb.co (a cottage bakery at 12983 S Fox Crossing Lane, heard July 9) and Bakehouse Cottage (a cottage bakery at 478 W. Sandberg Lane, heard July 30). As we reported July 16, the string of cottage-food applications has kept the commission busy this summer.

When the commission approved England's salon, it attached conditions common to home-based personal-care businesses: appointment-only service, one customer at a time, weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and one designated off-street parking space. Whether similar restrictions would apply to Lamb Hair Salon will depend on the Aug. 13 hearing.
