Juan Diego Catholic fell to 1-6 on the season after a 54-6 loss to East on Friday, Sept. 25, and the schedule offers no relief. The Soaring Eagles host 5-1 Highland on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in a Region 10 matchup.

East's Moe Latu rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns, including a 73-yard run, to power the Leopards past Juan Diego, according to a Deseret News roundup. Zach Muirbrook caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Ahlstrom for the Soaring Eagles' only score.

Juan Diego's lone win this season came Sept. 17 against Cottonwood, 48-3. The Soaring Eagles finished 2-9 overall and 1-5 in Region 10 last year, with their only region victory also coming against Cottonwood.

First-year head coach Trevor McFalls, a Juan Diego alum who previously coached at Snow College, said in the Deseret News preseason preview in August that his young roster was "eager to turn things around" but would "be tested every week." Seven games in, the tests have been steep.

The Highland team arriving Oct. 2 is the defending Region 10 champion. The Rams rallied from a 29-20 fourth-quarter deficit to beat Murray 34-29 on Sept. 25, clinching the win on Will Bauman's 55-yard interception return for a touchdown with 2:20 left. It was Highland's Homecoming night, and the Rams needed a goal-line stand on the final play to hold off Murray (5-2), as first reported by the Deseret News.

"Dru is a great quarterback, and I know he likes to make plays with his legs and that he will try to make something happen," Bauman said after the game. "He's really good at it, but that time I read it right."

Head coach Kautai Olevao is in his sixth season at Highland. The Rams went 6-0 in region play in 2025 before falling to Hurricane in the 4A quarterfinals.

Elsewhere in Region 10 on Sept. 25, Skyline routed Cottonwood 56-0.

Highland visits Juan Diego Catholic at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2. Murray travels to Providence Hall.
