Draper residents who use Brookside Drive near Suncrest will need alternate routes through the weekend after the city confirmed the road closure is lasting longer than planned.

Draper City said on X on Tuesday, Sept. 15, that the contractor had notified the city the closure would remain in place through the weekend. No specific reopening date or time was given.

The closure had been expected to lift by Thursday, Sept. 17. The city first announced it on Monday, Sept. 14, when a contractor working on a water line project in Suncrest shut down Brookside Drive at Suncrest Drive. As we reported Tuesday, Sept. 15, a detour is in place for Maple Hollow neighborhood residents via Brookings Drive.

A separate Draper project to replace pressure-reducing vaults on the Suncrest Drive transmission line, announced on July 31, involves work near the same intersections and is expected to run through November.
