Draper's annual Haunted Trail returns to Ballard Arena this month, and the city is urging families to grab tickets before they're gone.

The family-friendly hike at 1600 Highland Dr. runs Thursday, Oct. 15, through Saturday, Oct. 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night. Tickets cost $4.25 per person and must be purchased online in advance. No tickets will be sold at the gate.

Draper City said on its official X account Wednesday, Sept. 30, that each night has limited capacity, preferred time slots go first and the event regularly sells out. The city encouraged residents to buy tickets early.

The roughly one-third-mile trail winds through wooded terrain with fog effects, strobe lighting, themed scenes, sudden noises and creepy creatures. The city's event page describes the experience as a mild-to-moderate scare level, geared toward children 15 and younger. It is not intended for older teens seeking intense attractions. Adults may attend only when accompanying a child age 15 or younger. Costumes are encouraged.

Families with young children may want to arrive early. The city advises that the trail gets spookier after dark.

The path is about two-thirds dirt and one-third paved, with hills and uneven ground. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended. Strollers and pets are not permitted.

Tickets are assigned to specific time slots. Late arrivals may not be accommodated, and all sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.

The event runs rain or shine but could be canceled or postponed for severe storms or lightning within 10 miles. Families can check the city's Haunted Trail webpage or call (801) 576-6584 for updates.

Anyone needing a disability accommodation should contact the city at least five days before the event date. Details are on the Haunted Trail webpage.

Draper City's Community Engagement and Events Committee discussed organizing the trail at its Aug. 26 meeting, according to committee records.

The event also appeared in the city's September/October Draper Forward newsletter and in ABC4's statewide Halloween calendar.
