A crash in front of the South Valley DMV on South Minuteman Drive shut down the road in both directions the afternoon of Aug. 12, cutting off the main entrance for drivers headed to one of the busiest state offices in southern Salt Lake County.
Draper City posted an alert on X at approximately 3:40 p.m., confirming officers were already on scene at 14555 South Minuteman Drive and that the road was closed in both directions. The post directed anyone still trying to reach the DMV property to use the south parking lot off 14525 South.
No injuries have been confirmed.
Draper Police had not released details on the number of vehicles involved, the cause of the collision or whether anyone was hurt. The department had not issued a follow-up statement on when the road reopened as of Wednesday evening.
The closure affected access to two state offices that share the 14555 South Minuteman Drive address. The South Valley office of the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers drive-through service for registration renewals. The Utah Driver License Division office at the same location keeps longer hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Both would have still been open when the crash occurred, meaning drivers arriving for late-afternoon appointments faced the detour through the south lot or potentially had to turn around entirely.
The Draper City post included a photo of the crash scene on South Minuteman Drive but did not describe the vehicles or the nature of the collision.
