Highland shut out Juan Diego Catholic 62-0 in a 4A Region 10 game Friday, Oct. 2, dealing the Draper school its largest shutout loss of the season.

The Soaring Eagles dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in region play, sixth in Region 10 with two games left. Highland improved to 6-1.

The Rams built a 14-0 first-quarter lead and poured in 34 points in the second quarter, according to the Deseret News. Juan Diego never reached the end zone.

Highland quarterback Will Bauman completed 13-of-16 passes for 249 yards. The Deseret News credited him with four touchdown passes in its game roundup and five in a separate top-performances feature; the two accounts differ.

Juan Diego managed just 58 passing yards and zero rushing yards against the Rams' defense, according to MaxPreps.

The 62-point margin ties the Soaring Eagles' Sept. 4 loss to Skyline, 69-7, for the largest deficit of the season. Friday's game marked the sixth time in eight contests that Juan Diego has been held to seven points or fewer.

A season of lopsided results

Juan Diego's lone win came Sept. 17, a 48-3 victory over Cottonwood. The Soaring Eagles have now lost two straight since that game, falling 54-6 to East on Sept. 25 before the Highland shutout.

The full 2026 ledger tells the story. Juan Diego opened with a 44-0 loss to Timpanogos on Aug. 14, fell 54-7 to Manti on Aug. 21, then lost a competitive 42-37 game to Carbon on Aug. 28. That Carbon contest remains the only game besides the Cottonwood win in which the Soaring Eagles scored more than seven points.

Blowout losses to Skyline (69-7) and Jordan (34-7) followed in September before the Cottonwood win provided a brief reprieve.

Through eight games, Juan Diego has been outscored 362-112 on the season.

What's ahead

The Soaring Eagles travel to Murray on Thursday, Oct. 8, then close the regular season at Richfield on Thursday, Oct. 15.
