Draper older adults can meet candidates running for the U.S. House, county sheriff, district attorney and other offices at a Candidate Day event Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Draper Senior Center.
The event, part of a countywide series organized by Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services, starts at 12:30 p.m. at 1148 E. Pioneer Rd. Each candidate gets time for a short presentation, followed by about 30 minutes to meet with attendees, ABC4 reported.
Races represented at the Candidate Day events include the U.S. House of Representatives, state Senate, Salt Lake County Council, district attorney and sheriff. Organizers have not named specific candidates for the Draper stop.
Two contested countywide races are among those represented in the series. Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera and District Attorney Sim Gill both face challengers in November, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Control of the County Council is also on the ballot.
Paul Leggett, division director of Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services, said the events aim to keep older adults plugged into the election process. "Candidate Days give our participants a chance to connect with local candidates, hear about the issues that matter to them and ask questions directly," Leggett wrote in a statement.
