The Draper Branch of The County Library will shut its doors for three months starting Aug. 31 for a full HVAC replacement and entrance renovation, leaving the city without its only public library through the fall semester.

The closure runs through Nov. 29, according to the Salt Lake County Library website. The branch, at 1136 E. Pioneer Rd. (12400 South), serves families, students and seniors who rely on it heavily during back-to-school season.

Draper City Council member Tasha Lowery confirmed the timeline in an Aug. 18 council summary, writing that the library would close for approximately three months, from the end of August to the end of November, for HVAC renovation. Sarah Brinkerhoff confirmed on the city's open-government platform the same day that the project also includes entrance upgrades, based on information presented at the Aug. 18 council meeting.

The County Library urged patrons on its Facebook page to check out materials before Aug. 31.

What patrons can do

Options remain. Draper cardholders can use these resources during the closure:

• Nearby branches: Sandy (10100 S. Petunia Way), Riverton (12877 S. 1830 West) and South Jordan (10673 S. Redwood Rd.)
• Digital resources: eBooks and eAudiobooks through the Libby app, streaming video and music via Hoopla, and eMagazines
• Holds and pickups: Place holds through the online catalog at catalog.slcolibrary.org and pick up at any open branch
• Phone help: Call 801-943-4636, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., for account questions, holds and interlibrary loan requests

No off-site programming or bookmobile service has been announced for the Draper area during the renovation. The library system has not set a reopening event or ceremony; the website lists Nov. 29 as the final day of the closure.
